Recent events involving our former superintendent shocked and saddened our district. I’m not going to review the events, but, before I go any further, I would like to take a moment to commend the five members of our Board of Education for moving as quickly as possible to resolve the situation so our district continues moving forward.
I would like to give special thanks to Mike Meade, Adam Collier, Chrys Thompson, and Vince Payne for taking many hours away from their families to work and advise me throughout this process.
I want to thank our administrators, our teachers, support staff, and our coaches for their work in running their departments, classrooms, and teams through all of last week’s distractions. If you went into our schools last week, you would not know what we were dealing with. They did a wonderful job in operating normally.
During the past week there were a several events that occurred that I would like to share with you and brag a bit about our district…
- Our preschool was evaluated last week, and we learned that we will be receiving our 4th consecutive FIVE-STAR rating from ODE
- Following extensive work by Mr. Morbitzer, we have launched our Ranger Pathways program.
- Auditors were in last week to begin conducting our annual financial audit, which will conclude in December.
- Our boys’ soccer senior class became the most successful four-year class in our high school’s history following a 1-0 win over Teays Valley on Saturday.
- Our marching band took 3rd place in its first competition of the year. The band will look to qualify for the state competition in a couple weeks.
- Our HT varsity volleyball team can win the Mid-State League Championship by winning their final two regular season matches.
Our students are taking Cumulative Benchmark Assessments and we will use this assessment data to modify and focus instruction where it is needed in order to maximize our students’ academic growth.
