Morrison On Administrative Leave; Tyler Named Interim Superintendent
Members of the Hamilton Local School District Board of Education were made aware that current Superintendent William Morrison was arrested during non-work hours over the weekend. Following the notification, board president, Joseph Jankowski called a special board meeting to take place on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. in order to take action that would allow the district to continue uninterrupted daily operations, while all legal processes take place.

During the meeting, the Hamilton Local School District Board of Education members voted unanimously to place Mr. Morrison on paid administrative leave pending results from the courts. They also voted unanimously to name Mr. Mark Tyler interim superintendent of Hamilton Local Schools. Tyler has served as the district’s assistant superintendent since July 2015.

Our Board of Education released the following statement: “We address these matters swiftly and directly, and we will take final action once the legal system has made a determination on the charges facing Mr. Morrison. State law affords him the right to due process, which is why we have placed him on administrative leave at this time.”

We want to reassure our community that our district will continue operating normally. There will be no noticeable changes to our day-to-day processes. Our district is filled with a strong administration and outstanding educators, and we will continue providing excellent instruction to each student in our district.

Since this is an open legal matter, Hamilton Local School District will not be making any further comment at this time. Once all matters have been closed, our district will release a final statement in regards to Mr. Morrison and his position within the Hamilton Local School District.
