District Lockdown Update
Earlier this morning, multiple people notified building officials that one of our students received a threatening message from someone in another school district. Upon reviewing the threat, district officials were proactive in initiating a district-wide lockdown at approximately 8:00 a.m.

Within the hour, law enforcement had the suspect in custody and determined that our district’s lockdown could be lifted.

“First, we want to thank the students who promptly came forward to notify building leaders,” shared Hamilton Local Interim Superintendent Mark Tyler. “There is nothing more important than the safety and security of our students and employees. Our district will always take threats seriously, and work with law enforcement to act swiftly to keep everyone safe.”

Since this is still an open investigation with law enforcement, we will not be making any further comment related to this situation.

Hamilton Elementary School and Hamilton Preschool (AM Classes) have been canceled for the day due to employees not being able to arrive to campus due to the lockdown.

Hamilton Preschool (PM Classes) will be operating on a normal schedule this afternoon, and all buses will transport students home on their regular afternoon schedules as well.
