Board of Education votes unanimously; approves Sewell

On Monday, August 29, 2016, during a special meeting of the Hamilton Local School District Board of Education, current members voted unanimously to approve the appointment of Jeffrey Sewell to the vacant position previously held by three-term board member, Mark Wilson.

Mr. Sewell, a Hamilton Township High School graduate, is a life-long resident of our district. He has spent more than 30 years working with United Parcel Service (UPS), and more than 15 years as a co-owner of the Obetz Dairy Queen. Jeff has volunteered countless hours throughout our school district over the years. His family has been actively involved in our community for nearly a century.

"Earlier this month, we lost a man who was the definition of community servant when Mark passed away," explained Superintendent William Morrison. "Our board of education took the responsibility of filling the vacant position very seriously, while taking time to evaluate all interested candidates before making their decision."

Last year, Mr. Sewell was presented with the Friend of Public Schools Award by the Ohio School Boards Association Central Region for his many years of support of our district and public education.

The official swearing in will take place during the board of education's next regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, September 12, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. in the Hamilton Local Schools Education Center at 775 Rathmell Road. Mr. Sewell will serve the remaining term, which expires on January 1, 2018.
